SOCIAL

social.png

Because human beings are social by nature, the ability to relate well with others is of importance. Although in the past we may have thought of this ability as inborn and immutable, scientific research suggests that prosocial traits can be cultivated through learning, reflection, and intentional practice. The results of such cultivation include changes in the brain, body, and behaviour, with associated benefits for physical, mental, and social well-being. An education that is meant to help children thrive should offer students not only the skills of self-regulation, but should also include essential skills to promote social flourishing. In this context, the word “Social” refers to immediate interpersonal interactions.
